The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it is publicly recruiting 23 members to serve on the ‘Incheon Metropolitan City Urban Planning Committee,’ which will be responsible for deliberating on and advising upon urban management plans.
The Urban Planning Committee is composed of a total of 30 members, of whom 23 are being recruited in this round. As the terms of the current members expire this coming September, the city is conducting the open recruitment to newly appoint individuals with expertise and experience in the field of urban planning.
The members who are ultimately selected will serve for two years starting in September 2026, carrying out deliberation and advisory work on urban management plans and various development projects in accordance with related statutes such as the 「Act on Planning and Use of National Territory」. As a deliberative body that determines the direction of urban development and land use, the committee’s composition influences the direction of urban policy, which is directly linked to citizens’ living environments.
The fields of recruitment cover eight areas related to urban planning: ▲urban planning ▲civil engineering ▲architecture and housing ▲transportation ▲landscape ▲environment ▲disaster prevention and ▲culture.
Application eligibility is limited to experts affiliated with universities, research institutions, associations and organizations, or engineering firms located in the Incheon, Seoul, and Gyeonggi regions. Applicants must possess expertise and practical experience in urban planning or related fields, meet the qualification requirements set forth in the relevant statutes, and have no grounds for disqualification equivalent to those under Article 31 of the 「Local Public Officials Act」.
Incheon City plans to select members with consideration for gender balance as well as expertise, so that a diverse range of opinions in the field of urban planning can be reflected in the operation of the committee.
The application period runs for 15 days, from August 3 to August 17. Applicants may submit the required documents, including the open recruitment application form, by visiting the Incheon Metropolitan Government’s Urban Planning Division in person or by mail, and submission by email (cmo2000@korea.kr) is also possible.
