The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will host a parenting lecture on preventing child abuse at 10 a.m. on September 4 at Songdo Convensia, featuring guest speaker Professor Lee Ho-seon. The event aims to underscore the importance of positive parenting and to raise public awareness of child abuse prevention.

Incheon organized the lecture as part of its initiative to build ‘Zero Child Abuse, Incheon — a City Where Children Are Safe and Happy.’ Targeting parents and guardians, it seeks to spread the value of positive parenting and to elevate community awareness of preventing child abuse.
The featured speaker, Professor Lee Ho-seon, has lectured at numerous public institutions, including the National Center for the Rights of the Child, Seongdong-gu Office and Seongbuk-gu Office, on child abuse prevention and safeguarding children’s rights. Through broadcasts and content such as ‘Lee Ho-seon’s Counseling Center’ and ‘Lee Ho-seon’s Cider,’ she is a communication expert who has continued her work in parent education, family counseling and the advancement of children’s welfare.
The lecture will be held under the themes ‘The Art of Adults Who Protect Children’ and ‘A Warm Word for Positive Parenting.’ It will address ways to establish healthy parenting values along with measures to improve awareness of child abuse prevention. A popera music performance will also be featured to comfort attendees and provide a moment of shared empathy.
Any Incheon citizen may attend the lecture free of charge. However, admission is available only through 100 percent advance registration, so citizens wishing to take part must apply via the information pattern (QR code) on the promotional poster or through the dedicated link (https://forms.gle/HyiDw8cBhDALzkaC7). Registration will be accepted until 6 p.m. on August 19, with 500 participants recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.
The lecture is significant in that it lowers the threshold to parent education to offer practical help to families struggling with child-rearing, and encourages people to view child abuse not as an individual matter but as a challenge the community must solve together.
Kim Kyung-sun, director general of the city’s Women and Family Bureau, said, ‘I hope this lecture becomes the first step toward positive parenting that makes both parents and children happy,’ adding, ‘We will continue to do our utmost to build an Incheon where children can grow up safe and healthy.’
