The Gwacheon National Science Museum (Director Lee Chung-won) will exhibit 20 award-winning works from the elementary division of the 2026 Youth Space Science Competition (HIS Youth) on the second floor of the central hall of its permanent exhibition building from the 11th through September 6. The exhibited elementary-division winners carry added significance, as they are set to become the first youth creations from Korea to be transported to the actual surface of the Moon.

The Gwacheon National Science Museum announced that it will present 20 award-winning works from the elementary division of the 2026 Youth Space Science Competition (HIS Youth) on the second floor of the central hall of its permanent exhibition building from Tuesday, August 11, through Sunday, September 6.
HIS stands for Human in Space, and HIS Youth is a space science and space medicine competition co-hosted by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity and Boryeong Co., Ltd., inviting elementary, middle, and high school students to explore human life in space. This year’s elementary division was held under the themes of ‘medicine needed for lunar exploration’ and human health in space. Elementary students from across the country took part, submitting a total of 303 creative promotional posters and drawings, of which 20 works — including 《Super Moon Jelly》 — were selected as winners.
At the exhibition, visitors can see firsthand the space-themed drawings and idea-based works created by children who may become the pioneers of future space science. Visitors will encounter visions of future life in space rendered through the children’s eyes, along with alternatives for preserving life beyond Earth. A jelly-type medicine to aid the research of female astronauts, a health stick that blocks cosmic radiation, and a helmet that analyzes brainwaves and breathing to diagnose and treat at the same time — the children’s ideas make the unfamiliar field of space medicine feel approachable.
What makes this exhibition special is that the elementary-division winners on display at the Gwacheon Science Museum are set to become the first youth creations from Korea to be transported to the actual surface of the Moon. The winning works will be stored on a digital storage medium and carried to the Reiner Gamma region of the lunar surface through a 《Lunar Time Capsule》 aboard the ‘IM-3’ mission of the U.S. private space company Intuitive Machines.
