The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the director-level reassignments on Aug. 14. The appointments take effect on Aug. 18.
Under the reshuffle, Han So-hee moves to the post of Director for Multilateral Cooperation. The position oversees international multilateral cooperation in the fields of science, technology and information and communications, coordinating policy with major international organizations and multinational consultative bodies.
Director-level appointments within a government ministry represent shifts in the middle-management line that oversees day-to-day operations, directly affecting the direction of the department’s work and its approach to external cooperation. Because the multilateral cooperation field is involved in coordinating science and technology policy between nations and in shaping international norms, a change of director carries significance for the continuity of related policy and the operation of external channels.
Inquiries related to the reassignments are handled by the Ministry’s Operations Support Division. The division is headed by Director Choi Moon-ki (044-202-4110), with practical matters handled by Kim Ho-jun, a science and technology secretary (044-202-4141).
