The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) is distributing support supplies—including signboards, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and waste bags—to establishments registered as pet-friendly restaurants that allow entry with companion animals. The measure is intended to help the pet-friendly restaurant system, which went into full effect in March, take root smoothly.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it is distributing support supplies such as signboards, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and waste bags to registered restaurants that permit entry with companion animals, in order to foster a safe and healthy dining culture shared with pets and to support the stable settlement of the related system.
The pet-friendly restaurant system allows pet owners to use ordinary restaurants and similar venues together with their companion animals while ensuring the hygiene and safety of the businesses. It has been in full effect since March 1 this year, following a revision of the Enforcement Rules of the Food Sanitation Act.
This distribution of support supplies was arranged to help business operators who have adopted and are running the system manage their establishments smoothly, and to create an environment in which pet owners and other patrons can use the facilities more conveniently and safely.
The supplies are provided to establishments currently registered in Incheon as pet-friendly restaurants. Eligible businesses may visit the sanitation department of their district or county office to collect the prepared supplies.
The city is also conducting promotional efforts to broaden participation in the system. Using consumer food sanitation inspectors, it plans to visit large cafés and restaurants near tourist sites in person to explain the system, and to describe registration procedures and standards during business guidance and inspection, alongside promotion through the websites of the city, counties, and districts.
Business operators who wish to register as pet-friendly restaurants can receive detailed guidance on the necessary procedures and standards by visiting or calling the sanitation department of their district or county.
The city expects that this support project will raise public awareness of the system and serve as an opportunity for a culture in which pet owners and non-owners consider one another while enjoying meals together to take root naturally in the community.
Kim Min-jeong, Director General of the city’s Health and Welfare Bureau, said, ‘We hope this provision of supplies will be of real help to both the small business owners operating pet-friendly restaurants and the citizens who use them,’ adding, ‘We will continue to spare no effort in promotion and administrative support so that this system settles in stably and more citizens and business operators can enjoy its benefits.’
