The council said it held a delivery ceremony on Aug. 20 at the Sinheung-dong Administrative Welfare Center for the 'ON&OFF Care' program, which provides cooling supplies to 10 welfare-crisis households.
The program was launched under the concept of "turning on warmth in winter and turning off heat in summer," aiming to continuously support neighbors vulnerable to seasonal climate changes.
The Community Social Security Council is a body in which the private sector and local administration cooperate to identify welfare blind spots, and this program was likewise carried out to proactively identify and support households facing seasonal crises.
At the delivery ceremony, council members personally visited the target households to hand over the supplies. Rather than simply distributing goods, the effort focused on checking on each household's well-being and living conditions to build a tighter welfare safety net.
"I hope our neighbors who are struggling with the continuing heat wave can spend the summer a little cooler and healthier," said Ham Hye-kyung, the council's private-sector chairperson. "We will continue to carefully look after our neighbors in need in the community and keep pursuing various welfare programs that provide real, practical help."
