The Ganghwa-gun Council of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC), chaired by Lee Yoon-seob, held its third-quarter regular meeting for 2026 on the 26th in the Jindallae Hall on the fourth floor of the Ganghwa County Office, discussing policy directions for peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. A total of 30 people, including advisers, took part in the meeting.

The Ganghwa-gun Council of the PUAC convened this regular meeting under the theme ‘Reflection and Alternatives for Implementing Policies of Peaceful Coexistence on the Korean Peninsula.’ Following an opening ceremony, the meeting proceeded with the gathering of advisers’ opinions on unification, a report on major activities, a report on key project plans for the second half of 2026, other agenda items, and announcements.
During the session for gathering unification opinions in particular, discussions focused on policy directions for realizing peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula amid a rapidly changing international environment. As a global compound crisis becomes a reality, advisers offered a range of views on the tasks the government should prioritize to manage peace on the peninsula, the core policy directions to pursue toward the international community, and the key tasks the PUAC should undertake at the present time.
Chair Lee Yoon-seob said, ‘With crises arising simultaneously across many fields amid conflicts such as those in the Middle East, it is time to gather the wisdom of our advisers to craft practical policies grounded in creative and substantive discussions for peaceful coexistence.’

As a presidential advisory body, the PUAC is tasked with gathering public opinion on unification policy and broadening a shared consensus on unification. Because regional councils carry out this role closest to residents, this meeting serves as a channel for reflecting the voice of the Ganghwa community in discussions of unification policy.

Drawing on the opinions gathered at the meeting, the Ganghwa-gun Council plans to steadily advance regional unification activities and its key projects for the second half of the year, and to work to spread a shared consensus on peaceful coexistence and unification within the community.
