Michuhol-gu District's Land Information Division announced that it will install illuminated building number plates, which allow for easy location identification even in the dark, in alleys throughout the district. The project was launched with the goal of creating brighter, safer alleys.
Critics had pointed out that existing building number plates, made in the form of reflective panels without lighting, were difficult to identify at night. In particular, Michuhol-gu, which has many old town areas, still has narrow, winding alleys in many places, and late-night visitors as well as delivery and emergency personnel often had difficulty finding exact locations.
The illuminated plates emit their own light, making it easy to identify a building's location even at night. They are expected to help rescue teams and emergency vehicles quickly locate their destinations during emergencies such as fires or medical crises. At the same time, the district explained that the increased lighting throughout the alleys is also expected to have a crime prevention effect.
Starting with the installation of these illuminated building number plates, Michuhol-gu District plans to continue inspecting and improving living safety infrastructure, focusing on densely populated residential areas and old town neighborhoods.
