The campaign, aimed at district residents and workers at businesses within the district, was designed to raise awareness of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke.
“Red Circle” refers to healthy blood vessels that help prevent cardio-cerebrovascular disease, and the “Red Circle Campaign” built around the term is intended to inform residents of the early symptoms of myocardial infarction and stroke while encouraging them to incorporate walking into their daily lives.
The campaign consists of two parts. First, the “Walk-On Red Circle Challenge,” running from September 1 to 7, requires participants to download the mobile walking app “Walk-On,” join the Incheon Jemulpo-gu walking community, walk a total of 35,000 steps over seven days, and leave a comment listing the early symptoms of myocardial infarction and stroke to complete the mission. The district plans to select 100 participants who achieve the goal through a drawing and award them commemorative gifts.
In addition, the district will run a “Know Your Vascular Numbers” promotional booth eight times over the course of September, providing one-on-one customized experiences and consultations to roughly 1,000 people, including users of multi-use facilities and local residents. At the booths, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol will be measured and the results explained, with individual health consultations offered to those found to have abnormalities. The campaign will also include promotional activities, leaflet distribution and referrals to public health center programs.
Kim Chan-jin, mayor of Jemulpo-gu District, said, “Through this campaign, I hope many residents will raise their awareness of the early symptoms of cardio-cerebrovascular disease,” adding, “I hope this serves as an opportunity to build healthy living habits by consistently practicing walking in daily life.”
