The Songnim 2-dong Residents' Autonomy Council (Chairperson Jung Yeon-young) of Jemulpo-gu District, Incheon, held the "2026 Songnim 2-dong Residents' Assembly" on the 3rd at the Songnimgol Atteret-gil underground plaza. The gathering, where residents themselves vote on what projects to carry out in their neighborhood, drew about 100 participants who filled the venue.

The assembly was run in the format of a village event planned by and open to residents. The program moved from the "2025 Residents' Autonomy Council audit report" to the "2026 Residents' Autonomy Council progress report" and then the "2027 village agenda vote." Residents settled last year's accounts, shared the status of this year's projects and then chose next year's village priorities with their own hands.
The "2027 Residents' Autonomy Council autonomy plan (draft)" placed on the agenda was approved with the consent of the residents in attendance. The blueprint for what the Residents' Autonomy Council will pursue next year was thus finalized with residents' approval.
Drawing the most attention was the vote on three proposed projects for next year. Combining the results of early voting and the main vote, the "Health Dream, Culture Dream" project came in first, followed by "Alleys with Gardens, Song 2 Our Alley Management Team" and the "Living Enrichment Liberal Arts School" project. The candidates thus lined up agendas closely tied to daily life, including health and culture programs, alley environment improvement and adult education for residents.
Jung Yeon-young, chairperson of the Songnim 2-dong Residents' Autonomy Council, said, "Thanks to the strong participation and interest of residents, we were able to hold the residents' assembly successfully," adding, "We will work to become a Residents' Autonomy Council that pays even closer attention to the voices of Songnim 2-dong residents and keeps improving."
The residents' assembly is a procedure through which the Residents' Autonomy Council finalizes the direction of the year's projects and budget by a vote of residents, an institutional mechanism ensuring that village projects rest on residents' consensus rather than unilateral administrative decisions. The projects ranked in this vote will go on to become village projects in Songnim 2-dong next year, backed by actual budget and staffing.
