The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that on the 7th it held the Incheon-China Sister and Friendship City Exchange Meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Songdo, inviting delegations from 11 Chinese cities. The gathering was intended to strengthen substantive exchange and cooperation with China’s sister and friendship cities.
The exchange meeting was organized in conjunction with the 2026 InChina Forum International Conference. Delegations totaling 32 people from 11 Chinese local governments, including Tianjin, Chongqing, Qingdao, Shandong Province and Harbin, took part, reaffirming their friendship with Incheon and discussing forward-looking cooperation measures.
This year in particular, in celebration of the InChina Forum’s 10th anniversary, the greatest number of Chinese local governments ever joined the event. Tianjin, which has participated consistently every year, added to the significance of the occasion.
The InChina Forum is a Greater China exchange platform involving local governments together with the public, private, industrial and academic sectors, and it has established itself as a leading venue for sustaining communication and cooperation between Korea and China. It carries meaning in that, when friendly relations between cities lead to actual personal and economic exchange, opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural cooperation also expand for local residents.
Alongside the exchange meeting that day, the city guided the Chinese delegations through major infrastructure in the Yeongjong and Cheongna areas as well as key municipal sites such as Wangsan Marina. The aim was to let them see firsthand Incheon’s development and its competitiveness as a global city.
Using this event as a springboard, Incheon plans to further advance substantive and sustainable exchange and cooperation across a wide range of fields, including personal, economic, cultural and tourism exchange, by reflecting the distinctive characteristics and mutual needs of each city.
Kim Young-shin, director-general of the city’s International Cooperation Bureau, said, ‘The fact that the largest-ever delegation of Chinese local governments has visited Incheon to mark the 10th anniversary of the InChina Forum is a testament to the solid relationship of trust between the two sides,’ adding, ‘Building on the firm trust with our sister and friendship cities, we will continue to broaden the scope of mutually beneficial cooperation going forward.’
