Incheon's Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) will hold a large-scale job fair featuring 45 leading local companies and root industry firms at Sangsang Platform Wave Hall at 2 p.m. on Oct. 14. The district said it will co-host the "2026 Jemulpo-gu Job Fair with Root Industry Companies" with the Incheon Technopark (Root Industry Job Center).

The fair is the first large-scale recruitment event to be held in Jemulpo-gu since the administrative restructuring took effect on July 1, 2026. The district said the event aims to ease labor shortages at local companies struggling to find workers, particularly root industry firms, while connecting job seekers of all ages, from young people to middle-aged and older adults, with jobs suited to their circumstances.
The root industry covers process technologies such as casting, molding, welding and heat treatment that form the foundation of finished-goods production, and is regarded as the backbone of manufacturing competitiveness. Because the sector has difficulty securing workers, partly due to a reluctance to work on production sites, a recruitment venue where companies and job seekers can meet face to face carries practical significance for local manufacturers.
The 45 participating companies will take part in one of two ways. Twenty companies will set up booths at the venue and conduct one-on-one on-site interviews with job seekers, while the remaining 25 will not attend in person but will recruit through indirect participation, with the organizers collecting résumés and forwarding them to the companies.
Job seekers need only bring a résumé and identification to the venue on the day of the event. A one-stop employment support service will allow them to register as job seekers on site and proceed directly to interviews, sparing them the trouble of visiting multiple agencies and companies separately.
Supplementary programs to help with job preparation will also be offered. These include artificial intelligence (AI) caricatures, AI mock interviews, virtual reality (VR) experiences of root industry robots and a personal color analysis booth, as well as free résumé photos for use in interviews. The Incheon Employment Center will provide on-site guidance and counseling on unemployment benefit certification procedures and the National Employment Support Program.
"As this is the first large-scale recruitment event held in Jemulpo-gu as it makes a fresh leap forward following the administrative restructuring, we have made every effort to ensure it provides practical help to both local companies and job seekers," Jemulpo-gu Mayor Kim Chan-jin said. "I hope it will be an occasion that revitalizes the local economy and gives hope to job seekers."
The fair is drawing attention as the first stage on which Jemulpo-gu will showcase the direction of its local employment policy under the new administrative system. Amid a local labor market in which companies struggle to find workers while job seekers struggle to find jobs, the number of actual hires generated by the event, which combines on-site interviews with counseling and hands-on programs, is expected to serve as the measure of its success.
