The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will hold the ’62nd Citizens’ Day Incheon Citizens’ Grand Festival’ at the Eoul Keun Madang plaza in Incheon Grand Park on Oct. 10. At the event—the first Citizens’ Day since the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration—the city’s new administrative slogan will be officially unveiled, and Incheon has designated Oct. 10 through 24 as ‘Citizens’ Happiness Week,’ offering a range of benefits to residents during that period.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the ’62nd Citizens’ Day Incheon Citizens’ Grand Festival’ at the Eoul Keun Madang plaza in Incheon Grand Park on Oct. 10. The event is designed as a gathering of harmony where citizens of various generations and walks of life come together to celebrate Citizens’ Day and connect with one another.
This year’s event carries particular significance as the first Citizens’ Day since the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration. In particular, the ceremony will mark the first official unveiling of the new administrative slogan of Incheon’s 9th elected administration, allowing citizens to see for themselves the direction and values the city intends to pursue.
The festivities will run throughout the day. Starting at 11 a.m., pre-event performances such as a wind ensemble and folk art shows will take place, along with hands-on programs the whole family can enjoy, including crafts, arts, and upcycling. From 3 p.m., the Citizens’ Culture and Arts Festival will begin in earnest with a varied lineup of stages including orchestra and choral performances.
The venue will also feature city policy promotion booths where residents can learn about and directly experience Incheon’s key policies. The booths will introduce policies closely tied to daily life in areas such as the environment, care services, tourism, and science, and will offer participatory programs such as image-making using generative AI, VR and drone experiences, and CPR training. A distinctive feature is that the event goes beyond one-way communication of policy to let citizens experience it firsthand.
The 62nd Citizens’ Day commemorative ceremony, beginning at 6 p.m., will include the ’48th Incheon Metropolitan City Citizens’ Award’ ceremony honoring the contributions of residents who have devoted themselves to the development of the local community. This will be followed by a ceremony to unveil the 9th elected administration’s slogan, joined by key guests and citizen representatives, sharing the new slogan and its meaning with residents. After the ceremony, the Incheon Metropolitan Boys and Girls Choir will give a special performance.
The celebratory concert of the Citizens’ Culture and Arts Festival that follows the ceremony will feature singers Park Ki-young and Lee Seok-hoon, among others. The event will close with a drone light show illuminating Incheon’s night sky.
The city will not end the celebration in a single day. Including Citizens’ Day on Oct. 15, it will operate a 15-day ‘Citizens’ Happiness Week’ from Oct. 10 to 24. During this period, the city plans to jointly promote a variety of events in fields such as culture, the arts, tourism, sports, and exhibitions in connection with Citizens’ Day, and to run participatory programs where residents can enjoy the festivities and connect together.
During Citizens’ Happiness Week, benefits for Incheon residents will also be offered at lodging, tourism, and cultural facilities. Details such as the usage period and discount rates for each facility can be found on the Incheon city website. The move is seen as an effort to translate Citizens’ Day into tangible everyday benefits and lower the barrier to participation.
Mayor Park Chan-dae said, ‘Citizens’ Day is a meaningful occasion for the citizens who are the true owners of Incheon to gather in one place, share pride in Incheon, and envision the future together.’ He added, ‘I hope it will be a starting point for sharing the vision and values of the 9th elected administration with citizens and building an Incheon where citizens are happy, together.’
