The Incheon Metropolitan City government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will hold the ’62nd Citizens’ Day Commemorative Incheon Citizens’ Grand Festival’ on October 10 at the Eoul Keun Madang plaza of Incheon Grand Park. As the first Citizens’ Day event since the launch of the 9th popular election administration, it has been arranged as an occasion for citizens of various generations and walks of life to gather together, celebrate Citizens’ Day, and communicate with one another.

The greatest significance of this festival lies in the fact that the new city administration slogan of the 9th popular election era in Incheon will be officially unveiled for the first time. As the city administration slogan is a symbol that distills the direction and values of municipal governance over the next four years, it is expected to be the first place where citizens can see the vision of the new administration.

The event will feature citizen-participation programs throughout the day. Beginning at 11 a.m., pre-show performances such as a wind ensemble and folk art performances will take place, and hands-on programs that the whole family can enjoy together, including crafts, art, and upcycling, will be operated. From 3 p.m., a diverse citizens’ cultural and arts festival featuring orchestra and choral performances will begin in earnest.

The venue will also host city administration promotion booths where citizens can learn about and experience Incheon’s major policies firsthand. Policies in fields closely tied to daily life—such as the environment, care services, tourism, and science—will be introduced, along with participatory programs such as creating images using generative AI, VR and drone experiences, and CPR training. A distinctive feature is that, rather than simply conveying policies one-way, citizens are invited to touch and experience them directly.

At the commemorative ceremony held from 6 p.m., an awards ceremony for the ’48th Incheon Metropolitan City Citizens’ Award’ will take place to honor citizens who have contributed to the development of the local community. This will be followed by a ceremony to unveil the 9th popular election era city administration slogan, held together with key guests and citizen representatives, sharing the new slogan and its meaning with citizens. After the ceremony, a special performance by the Incheon Metropolitan Boys’ and Girls’ Choir will follow.

The celebratory performance of the citizens’ cultural and arts festival that follows the commemorative ceremony will feature singers Park Ki-young and Lee Seok-hoon, among others, taking the stage. The event will close with a drone light show illuminating the night sky over Incheon.

Meanwhile, Incheon will operate a ‘Citizens’ Happiness Week’ for 15 days, from October 10 to 24, including Citizens’ Day on October 15. During this period, the city will jointly promote a variety of events in culture, the arts, tourism, sports, and exhibitions in connection with Citizens’ Day, and operate participatory programs where citizens can enjoy themselves and communicate together. In particular, benefits for Incheon citizens will be offered at lodging, tourism, and cultural facilities, with details such as usage periods and discount rates for each facility available on the Incheon city website. It is significant in that the event does not end in a single day but leads to tangible benefits that citizens can experience over a two-week period.

Mayor Park Chan-dae said, ‘Citizens’ Day is a meaningful day when the citizens who are the true owners of Incheon gather together to share pride in Incheon and envision the future together,’ adding, ‘I hope it will become a starting point for sharing the vision and values of the 9th popular election administration of Incheon with citizens and for building a happy Incheon together.’
