The Incheon City Chorale (Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung) will hold its 198th regular concert, 《A Concert Commemorating the Invitation to the 2027 ACDA National Conference》, at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul at 7:30 p.m. on October 13. The performance celebrates the choir’s official invitation to the world-renowned choral conference to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in March 2027, offering domestic audiences an early look at the program it will present on the international stage.

The Incheon City Chorale is set to take the stage as a headliner at an event drawing the attention of the global choral community. The 2027 ACDA National Conference, hosted by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), is an international professional choral conference that brings together choral figures and musicians from around the world, and the Incheon City Chorale has been chosen as an officially invited choir for the event.

Only three teams worldwide received an invitation this time. The Incheon City Chorale joined the list alongside Conspirare of the United States and Tenebrae of the United Kingdom, and among them it was given the headliner slot, leading a 45-minute performance on its own. Beyond standing shoulder to shoulder with the world’s leading choirs, it has been entrusted with the role of filling the entire stage by itself.

This is not the first time for the Incheon City Chorale. The choir graced the finale stage at the 2009 National Conference in Oklahoma City, and now, roughly 18 years later, it has once again received an official invitation, reaffirming its standing as a world-class, prestigious choir.

The October 13 stage at Lotte Concert Hall is an occasion to give domestic audiences an advance look at the program that will be presented in the United States in 2027. Centered on works where Korean sentiment meets a contemporary choral language, the concert is built around a repertoire that spans eras and genres.

The first half opens with a work by Penderecki, followed by pieces steeped in Korean themes and resonance, including Woo Hyo-won’s ‘Jeongjungdong’, ‘Saeya Saeya’ arranged by Park Jeong-gyu, Jo Hye-young’s ‘Geumjandi’, and Ji Hye-jung’s ‘Diyeora’. The second half unfolds a varied program ranging from traditional choral music to contemporary works, including a piece by Levente Gyöngyösi, an arrangement of an Irish folk song, and signature musical numbers.

Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung said, ‘Standing as a headliner on a world-class choral stage is a great honor for our choir and a meaningful moment for Korea’s choral community’, adding, ‘Through this domestic concert we will first present the music we have built together with our members over many years, and we will do our utmost to convey the beauty and depth of Korean choral music on the world stage as well.’

For local residents, the concert offers a chance to witness up close the strength of Incheon’s culture and arts as it steps onto the international stage. Its significance is heightened by the fact that audiences will encounter the program of a stage granted to only three teams worldwide before American audiences do. Tickets are 30,000 won for R seats and 20,000 won for S seats, and can be booked through NOL Ticket and the Lotte Concert Hall reservation page.
