Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) in Incheon said on the 23rd that it has finished building a coastal road that residents around Wangsan Beach had long requested, and that the road will fully open to traffic. The new road is 681 meters long and 8 meters wide and is expected to ease the traffic congestion that returns every peak season.

The project cost 6.3 billion won in total. Its main component was the construction of new sections of urban planning roads So 2-12 and So 2-37 around 808-28 Eurwang-dong, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon.
Wangsan Beach is Yeongjong's signature coastal tourist destination and draws large numbers of visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area. However, narrow roads and a lack of pedestrian space have long caused inconvenience for residents and tourists alike.
The problem was particularly severe during the summer peak season. Every year, vehicles heading to the beach arrived all at once and caused heavy congestion on roads in the area. As tourist numbers grew, even residents' daily travel became difficult.
The district replaced the narrow, aging road with a new two-way urban planning road. It also added safety facilities and provided ample pedestrian space so that both drivers and pedestrians can travel more safely and conveniently.

The opening is expected to improve traffic flow and significantly reduce peak-season congestion. Above all, it is expected to improve living conditions for residents and make travel more convenient for tourists.
Better access to the tourist area benefits not only residents' daily lives but also visitors to the beach area. The new road is also significant as a project to upgrade the area's tourism infrastructure.
"With the completion of this project, the road that residents have long awaited has finally opened," Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said. "Beginning with this road, Yeongjong-gu plans to continue expanding safety facilities and community infrastructure to build a safe Yeongjong where residents can live with peace of mind." The district plans to continue expanding community infrastructure following the opening.
